Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at admin@ewagstaffpsychology.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You don't need a referral to see a psychologist—you can book an appointment directly via the website, by email, or by calling us. However, if you visit your GP and obtain a Medicare Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for up to 10 rebated sessions per year, making it more affordable for you to access support.

We are not a crisis service. However, your welfare is important to us, so in a crisis, please refer to the emergency numbers provided on the website.

During the initial consultation, you will have a welcoming space to discuss your concerns and goals. You'll be asked questions to understand your challenges, explore your personal and professional history, and assess your needs. Together, specific objectives for therapy will be identified and a treatment plan tailored to your situation will be discussed.

The frequency of sessions depends on each individual's unique circumstances and the challenges they're facing. Typically, sessions would begin on a weekly or fortnightly basis to establish progress and build momentum. As improvements are made and circumstances evolve, we would discuss the extension between sessions to reflect your needs and goals.

If you feel that therapy isn’t working for you, it’s important to share your concerns with your psychologist so that adjustments can be made to meet your needs better. Therapy is a collaborative process, and sometimes, this might mean exploring different approaches, setting new goals, or even considering a referral to another professional who may be a better fit. Your well-being is the priority, and open communication is key to finding the right path forward.

Your confidentiality is handled with the utmost care and in accordance with professional and legal standards. All information shared during sessions is kept strictly private. However, there are exceptions to confidentiality, such as situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or legal obligations, which will be discussed with you in session to ensure transparency and understanding.

A typical 50-minute session will cost $220. Fees for other services vary. If you have a Medicare Health Care Plan or private health insurance, you may be eligible for rebates. Please contact your GP or private health insurance for more information.

You can send a message online via our website, email us at admin@ewagstaffpsychology.com.au, or call on 0480 517 898. We will try to respond to emails and messages within 48 hours (not including weekends or public holidays).
